Beauty in the kitchen

When I was a little girl watching TV shows or movies where the women had a clay mask on and hanging around would make me want to do the same. Watching them pamper themselves with painting their nails and giving themselves facials look so fun. When i got to the age of playing with cosmetics and skin products i went straight to facial masks. going to school to become and esthetician now has made me understand the concept of masks and have seen great results in them. Unfortunately I now see how little they are used. It maybe that it can be time consuming but I LOVE MASKS!  Finding the right mask for your skin type is the most important factor, once you do your ready to go! I have a couple yummy recipes to feed your face, both are for all skin types and can be made at home. Both are worth trying, if you never try something out you will never really know if it was for you or not. i love both results and if your a "home maker" or a wanna be home maker like me this is for you! :)

EGG WHITES AND YOGART MASK: super easy!!

This mask helps keep the skin glowing and tight. Egg whites help with firming, although not permanently, they help narrow pores and has become great for a base mix for facial masks. There are also good cleansing and acne fighting qualities that many many people will swear their life on, not scientifically proven but results are results. The probiotics in yogurt that works well in our bodies work just as well topically.  Helps the skin feel softer and smoother also helps lessen breakouts. Not only will the anitbacterial, antifungal from yogurt rid your skin of impurities, the lactic acid also will tighten your complexion.

Ingredients:
2 Egg whites, Separate the yolk from the egg whites and place the egg whites in a bowl.
2 tablespoon of yogurt, i like to use greek plain yogurt

mix well and the look of it will be clear and runny, apply to full face and even on your neck if you wish, leave on for 5 minutes. rinse with warm water or what i like to do is place a towel in warm water and apply warm towel on my face and gently wipe off mask. applying a warm towel on your face before removing the mask helps the mask penetrate into skin.

HONEY-AVOCADO TONING MASK: A bit more time consuming and will not keep for more than 3-4 days but leaves your skin feeling sooooooooo soft!

This mask cleanses, tones and helps tighten the skin. Can be used for all skin types. The buttery avocado penetrates skin, specially helpful for aging skin, and leaves it glowing. Grapes used in this mask Softens and moisturize skin, the mayonnaise tones and soothes and the baking soda helps with deep cleansing but gentle enough for sensitive skin.

Ingredients:

1/2 avocado (dont forget to peel and pit)
3 seedless grapes
1 whole egg
1 teaspoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon of honey
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon lime extract

Mash up avocado and then add one grape at a time until mixed smooth. Once smooth add remaining ingredients and blend until fully mixed. Consistency will become smooth, somewhat like a very smooth paste. Apply to face for 10-15 minutes and wash off with warm water or warm towel. what i like to do is apply a warm damp towel on my face and gently removing the mask. The warm towel help the mask penetrate the skin before removing. Since this product does not have preservatives in it, it will not keep for more then 3 days. It will make 1/2 a cup and keep covered and refrigerated. trow it away after 3-4 days.

Have fun with this, Experiment and find what works for you. Masks are a great way to feed, hydrate, cleanse your skin. Work with masks made for your skin type and if you are not sure what type your skin is, look for one for all skin types. Pamper yourself with out the big bucks and just open your fridge and find your new skin care regimen! ;)
